Marilyn Rowland maintained a freelance indexing, editing, and writing business, Marisol Productions, for over 40 years, full-time for 20 years, and part-to-full time while working for other organizations. Projects include back-of-the-book indexing, website indexing, and periodical indexing.
A former Arts & Entertainment editor for the Falmouth Enterprise and related newspapers, she writes about the arts, culture, social and health concerns, the environment, and related issues for a variety of organizations for her blog, Notes on the Arts and other online blogs. She has edited several books for local authors.
Rowland also produces televisions shows on community issues and the arts for Falmouth Community Television and is an active member of ArtsFalmouth and the Falmouth Cultural Council.
She has created HTML and WordPress websites for numerous individuals and nonprofit organizations.
Rowland has founded and directed several volunteer and professional organizations in the fields of community planning, indexing and writing, adoption, and music and the arts. Former positions include senior environmental planner for Parsons, Brinckerhoff, Quade, & Douglas in Boston, energy conservation program manager for the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources, and community development planner for the City of Memphis, where she established a Community Design Center to serve local community planning and architectural needs. She has an undergraduate degree in International Relations from American University in Washington DC and a masters degree in city and regional planning from Memphis State University in Memphis, Tennessee.
